Let’s talk sugar detox! I attempted the 21 Day Sugar Detox before, but it was really horrific timing, as I had started it just a week prior to the passing of my grandmother. Commence emotional binge eating. So, this is a fresh start! My first detox day was Monday, a day that was coincidentally also my first official day of half marathon training. See:
My game plan is to stop by Trader Joe’s once a week to stock up on convenience items, I love that they always have my favorite items pre-washed and sliced so I can just throw them in a frying pan and go. These include Brussels sprouts and my all-time favorite, kale! I usually cook the Brussels sprouts with a little bacon, some salt (since I buy uncured bacon, usually it isn’t salty) and maybe some red pepper flakes. Kale usually gets wilted with some coconut oil, garlic, red pepper and lemon juice. MMM MMMM MMM! (I’m addicted!) However, this weekend I will probably make Pizza Flavored Kale Chips to mix things up a bit.
As far as lunch goes, for the most part I’ve been eating avocado tuna salad, which sounds and looks kind of disgusting, but it tastes amazing and is very satisfying. I throw two avocados, half a red onion, two jalapenos juice of two large limes, and two cans of tuna fish together. It is a great option but today is Thursday and I’ve grown a little bored of it, so I’m going to have a chorizo omlette for lunch today at Obama’s favorite pancake house. Yep. Life is good.
Yesterday was a super duper long day for me. I went for a run, headed into work, headed to a networking event, and then on to my first graphic design night class. Returning home a tad after 10:00 p.m., I walked Rory Penelope and then headed inside to discover that Mr. Dubs had left a piece of oreo pie sitting on our counter. Just sitting there begging to be consumed. Attempting to sabotage my grand plans. After such a long day, my defenses were weakened, I was vulnerable. So, instead, I ate a breakfast ‘muffin’ and felt triumphant in my victory over the pie.
